HAPPY NEW YEAR........

Image
HAPPY NEW YEAR to all my fellow danglers out there... I guess a round up of the highs and lows of my years fishing would be in order at this point. Except that i,ve barely set foot on the bank this past year. Work and building my extension has literally taken over my life, resulting in not having much free time and when i do i,m generally too knackered to lift my lazy arse outta the bed. I have had a few short sessions and thoroughly enjoyed myself, even though catch results have been pretty poor. But as they say that,s why its called 'fishing' and not 'catching'. Highlights of my year, not fishing related, have been getting more and more interested in photography, Earlier in the year i purchased a Canon 7D mk11 so i could use it to take better quality pictures of the local wildlife, although time has restricted me to limited use so i,m still learning about the camera and the various settings, jargon etc. A couple of months back i had a right result and bought a s...

LOW WATER DOG WALKING..

Image
Two weekends ago i took the dogs for a nice walk locally at Paglesham on the River Roach. This is a favourite walk of mine as there ,s a lot of wildlife to see and its quite remote so i can let the boys of their leads and let them run riot. And run riot they did too........ The tide was out when we got there which was a shame as Harry loves to have a swim about, but that didn,t deter him as he was off straight across the mud to the channel followed hot on his heels by Oscar. Boy did they get covered in glorious sticky, stinky Essex estuary mud, they loved it.... It was a bit overcast and windy when we arrived there which was ideal as far as i was concerned as i,m not a lover of being out in the extreme sun that we have been getting. But shortly after our arrival the clouds disappeared and out came the sun to boil my brain cell.  I,m always a bit wary when i,m walking the dogs in the real heat and sun as they run constantly and it concerns me that they might wear themselves ou...

ADDER ATTACK..........

Image
A few days ago the other half and i took our 2 dogs for a nice evening walk along the river at South Fambridge, the day had been hot and there was a nice breeze blowing so we thought, how better to spend a couple of hours after a hot, sweaty day at work. Its a beautiful place to visit as theres nothing but fields and of course the river itself. The dogs had a great time, Harry was doing his favourite thing and swimming up and down in front of us, while Oscar was splatting through the thick estuarine mud and running over the rocks. Myself and Sharon just enjoyed watching the dogs have fun while we slowly unwound from the days trials and tribulations. Once home the dogs were hosed down and dried, given some treats and they then flopped on their beds and promptly fell asleep snoring after the exertion of the evenings fun. We had a cup of tea and retired to bed a couple of hours later, dogs happy and us relaxed. Everything was fine... The next morning we noticed that Harry, the golden...

NEW FOREST PADDLING

Image
Just thought i,d put this short clip on of my golden retriever Harry enjoying himself paddling in a small brook in the New Forest. I,m not the only one who likes messing about in the water. I don,t know why it recorded without sound though.
