CHEEKY COUPLE OF HOURS....

Image
So as some of you might have guessed from my posts for the last year or so i have been spending most of my spare time working on the never ending extension of my home. When i originally decided to build this extension of gargantuan proportions i had very little work on as my business had slowed down, so the idea was i,d take 6 months or so out and get this project built. Well as soon as finances and plans were accepted and in hand i had lots of work come in that i couldn,t turn down, typical, so for the past 2 years i have spent most evenings and weekends building, constructing, wiring, plumbing, plastering and painting. The project still has a few months to go but i,m getting there. This has seriously made a dent in my fishing time, as well as my photography and my country walking time, but i,m slowly getting to the point where i can have more free time. This means more fishing and hopefully more blogs, and really hopefully more fish. Anyways last sunday morning i had a sneaky coupl...

DROPSHOTTING

Image
Well after posting last week that i havn,t managed to get out on the bank lately i finally managed a couple of hours at first light sunday. Although the fishing didn,t set the world on fire, actually being by the river and watching the sun come up was exactly what i needed to bring a smile to my face for more upcoming extension works. I wish i had taken some pictures of the sunrise as it was a beautiful one marking the start of a glorious sunny day. It was surprisingly fresh too, which i wasn,t expecting, with a bite in the air which warned that winter is just round the corner. Anyway back to the fishing. I decided a while ago that i wanted to give dropshotting a good try but as yet hadn,t had the time to put the technique to task. So Sunday morning all i took was a small 'bum bag' type thingy stuffed full of small shads. worms etc  ready for some perch action. With just rod, net and bag i strolled along the river to a marina area that i know always holds perch as i thought t...

END OF SEASON ATTEMPT................

FAIIIILLLLLLLL............................. A couple of weeks ago in my infinite wisdom i decided to pack up my predator kit and head of to the local river in an attempt to bag myself a couple of pike and maybe a perch or two. The area i wanted to try was one i hadn,t fished before and it was a long hard slog through some slippery mud covered pathways along the river bank before i got to the actual spot i wanted to fish. It didn,t look that long a walk from the roadside but i certainly felt the burn in my legs and the thumping in my chest when i arrived at my swim. Before i set of from home the skys were just a little overcast, perfect for predator dangling, but when i starting to set up my kit the skies darkened and it started to rain. Great i thought as i hadn,t brought a brolly. Tackle all sorted and i had a nice sardine cast to just below a far bank tree and i also had a feeder rod set up with the idea of fishing mashed bread and flake in the hope of winkling out a resident ...

OH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MOOORNINGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This sunday just gone i was up before it was light and winging my way to the local River Chelmer for a wee spot of dangling. Unfortunately i got my timings wrong and actually arrived a good 30 minutes before the sun even starting to rise. So in darkness i loaded myself up with tackle and set of to the area that i fancied fishing for perch and maybe a pike or two. Carefully i set up in my chosen swim trying not to make too much noise as i knew there could be a predator nearby in the bankside reeds waiting for the sun to rise and highlight his prey. Well i got my float rod set up ready to catch some livies and also my perch rod set up ready to fish said livies just as it started to get light. Looking up the river it was a bit foggy which looked great and just added to the serenity as i sat there sipping on my cup of rosie. As soon as it was light enough to see my float tip i started to fish single maggot on a size 22 in hope of some nice mouth size silver fish. Well the theory was ...
