EASTER AT PAKEFIELD

Image
Well i,m finally updating my blog as not a lot has been happening on the fishing front for a while really. I have been so busy with building the colossal extension to my house, i swear it was half the size it has turned out to be on paper, as well as being really busy on the work front. In fact over the past 6 months i dont seem to have stopped at all, i,ve even done a 4 week photography course and been to Turkey on holiday. I have managed a little fishing here and there but results have been a little hit and miss. Now that i can relax a little bit hopefully i shall be updating this here little blog type thingy a bit more regularly. Right then my lovelies lets begin, Easter this year saw myself and my good lady Shazbo hitch up the crapavan of love and head of to the sunny delights that is Pakefield Caravan Park just outside Lowestoft in Suffolk. We,ve been here before and although i,m not a lover of the surrounding area, its a bit bleeuurrgghh for my liking, i do love the miles and m...

ICKLE WICKLE LURE BAG........

Image
Just thought i,d post a pick of my little shoulder bag that i use when i go dropshot fishing. Its perfect for the small amount of gear i take and holds everything i need for a few hours fishing. Ok so it won,t take my digital camera but it can take a bottle of water, scales, weigh sling, lures, weights, line etc with ease.

Urban Dangling

I had a quick ten minutes with the drop shot gear today as I had been rained of from work and just a few minutes drive away was a nice little stretch of river. I hid under a road bridge while it chucked it down, and had a few casts but didn't have any knocks. It didn't surprise me though as the water was gin clear. Fishing appetite whetted I drove home through the heavy rain.... Urban fishing...

DROPSHOTTING

Image
Well after posting last week that i havn,t managed to get out on the bank lately i finally managed a couple of hours at first light sunday. Although the fishing didn,t set the world on fire, actually being by the river and watching the sun come up was exactly what i needed to bring a smile to my face for more upcoming extension works. I wish i had taken some pictures of the sunrise as it was a beautiful one marking the start of a glorious sunny day. It was surprisingly fresh too, which i wasn,t expecting, with a bite in the air which warned that winter is just round the corner. Anyway back to the fishing. I decided a while ago that i wanted to give dropshotting a good try but as yet hadn,t had the time to put the technique to task. So Sunday morning all i took was a small 'bum bag' type thingy stuffed full of small shads. worms etc  ready for some perch action. With just rod, net and bag i strolled along the river to a marina area that i know always holds perch as i thought t...

No Fishing Here......

Well I haven't posted anything for a good few months as I've been busy on the home front building the other half a photography studio, at the bottom of the garden, and starting the construction of our house extension. All this work makes Bryan a dull boy as I haven't had the chance to wet a line for what feels like an eternity. Never mind I'll make up for it once the build has been completed in the next couple of months. With actual fishing on hold I have had some time to mull over how I want to continue my angling journey. There is so many styles and species that I want to try/catch that sometimes I just can't make my mind up what to do. At the forefront is the good old sergeant major, the perch, who I shall be spending most of my time trying to catch in the new year. I'm hoping to fish the Broads more as well next year as it's such a beautiful place. Also closer to home I'll have a bash at saltwater fishing more. There's plenty more that I,d like t...

END OF SEASON ATTEMPT................

Image
FAIIIILLLLLLLL............................. A couple of weeks ago in my infinite wisdom i decided to pack up my predator kit and head of to the local river in an attempt to bag myself a couple of pike and maybe a perch or two. The area i wanted to try was one i hadn,t fished before and it was a long hard slog through some slippery mud covered pathways along the river bank before i got to the actual spot i wanted to fish. It didn,t look that long a walk from the roadside but i certainly felt the burn in my legs and the thumping in my chest when i arrived at my swim. Before i set of from home the skys were just a little overcast, perfect for predator dangling, but when i starting to set up my kit the skies darkened and it started to rain. Great i thought as i hadn,t brought a brolly. Tackle all sorted and i had a nice sardine cast to just below a far bank tree and i also had a feeder rod set up with the idea of fishing mashed bread and flake in the hope of winkling out a resident ...
