RAIN , RAIN AND MORE RAIN.....

I,ve been sitting in my office all day catching up on paperwork and all I can hear outside is bloody rain. I know we need as much as possible as the reservoirs are low and the rivers need a good flush through, but i,m getting bored with it now. My job is 100% dependant on weather so as you can guess I havn,t been able to do much over the past few weeks as we keep getting rained off. Having a bit of spare time is fine with me but unless I want to get soaked I can,t even go fishing, so i,ve been stuck in the office catching up on paperwork or in my warehouse building shelves and tidying up. Nevermind i,ll live I suppose.......

As mentioned i,ve barely been fishing since catching my pb bream. Ryan and i did manage a weekend on our new water, where I blanked but he had a cracking mirror carp of 28lb 6oz which made it all worthwhile. I know it sounds like a cop out but as long as one of us catch I deem it to be a success, even if the captor is not  me..

Guess what, it rained there as well....


I,m off caravaning to Sussex this coming bank holiday weekend and do you know what the forecast is for?? Yes you guessed it, rain all weekend. Nevermind, we won,t let it dampen our spirits as i,ve got some juicy local sirloin steaks on order ready to be slapped on the bbq, and a big brollie to cover said bbq. I,m also taking my sea fishing gear and will have a dangle come rain or shine....

One thing I have been doing, due to not being able to work, is start to kit out my new fishing room. Its not finished yet but as you can see its coming along quite nicely.

'RAYS' OF SUNSHINE

 Lately there have been a few reports of the thornback rays showing up in the local tidal river in good numbers so I thought i,d set out to catch one. I have caught a few thornies in the past but I,m far from proficient at it, so I,ve set myself a little goal of fishing for them more over the next couple of months so that I can learn as much about them for future fishing trips. SMALL RIVER ROVING

With Christmas out of the way and copious amounts of food consumed i needed to get out in the fresh air and stretch my legs so of down the local tackle shop i went and came out with a couple pints of maggots and a box of lobworms. A good few years ago i had a little explorative walk along a small river 15 or so miles away from me, as i had heard a couple of chub had been caught, and thought it would be worth a try at some point but had never really got round to it. Well i had an itch to roam a river and seeing as the River Chelmer is such a shadow of its former self a new venue was needed, and seeing as i didn,t have the time to venture upto Peterborough and fish the River Nene this tiny little water would be my chosen venue.  I arrived on the banks at first light after a short walk and set up a chubber float to fish a tiny little weir pool, of off the main river, which fed a tiny stream which ran through a nearby golf coarse. SELLING MY BOAT

I,ve come to the tough decision that i have to sell one of my fishing boats as i barely use it any more and i need the space. The boat is a Shetland 535 Fast fisher 17ft glassfibre jobbie with a tuned 40hp yamaha outboard on the back. The boat itself is ready to go fishing with all steering and morse controls working fine. The gelcoat is a bit flat but sound, theres no holes or osmosis and just needs water.  The outboard is a Yamaha 40hp and was rebuilt a few years ago and has only been used for a few hours and is in immaculate condition and runs fine. Its electric start and needs an external fuel tank. As the pictures will show its immaculate. The trailer needs a little bit of work, new wheel bearings and possibly a little welding here and there.
