ADDER ATTACK UPDATE

Just a little follow up to a post i did a couple of weeks ago about my dog being bitten by an adder whilst out walking locally. After a few trips to the vets and various injections and tablets, Harry is now pretty much back to normal, barking at the neighborhood dogs letting them know who's boss and fetching you his blanket whenever you come in through the front door.


















We,ve taken him on a few walks now and although he gets a little out of puff he still loves it. We also took the pair of them to The Blackwater Country Show last sunday which was a nice few hours out and they both loved it, saying hello to other dogs, getting made a fuss of by strangers and having little tasters of our bacon rolls and ice creams. What more can a dog ask for..........

I,d like to say thank you to all that wished Harry a speedy recovery and keep those eyes peeled.....

'RAYS' OF SUNSHINE

 Lately there have been a few reports of the thornback rays showing up in the local tidal river in good numbers so I thought i,d set out to catch one. I have caught a few thornies in the past but I,m far from proficient at it, so I,ve set myself a little goal of fishing for them more over the next couple of months so that I can learn as much about them for future fishing trips. SELLING MY BOAT

I,ve come to the tough decision that i have to sell one of my fishing boats as i barely use it any more and i need the space. The boat is a Shetland 535 Fast fisher 17ft glassfibre jobbie with a tuned 40hp yamaha outboard on the back. The boat itself is ready to go fishing with all steering and morse controls working fine. The gelcoat is a bit flat but sound, theres no holes or osmosis and just needs water.  The outboard is a Yamaha 40hp and was rebuilt a few years ago and has only been used for a few hours and is in immaculate condition and runs fine. Its electric start and needs an external fuel tank. As the pictures will show its immaculate. The trailer needs a little bit of work, new wheel bearings and possibly a little welding here and there. SMALL RIVER ROVING

With Christmas out of the way and copious amounts of food consumed i needed to get out in the fresh air and stretch my legs so of down the local tackle shop i went and came out with a couple pints of maggots and a box of lobworms. A good few years ago i had a little explorative walk along a small river 15 or so miles away from me, as i had heard a couple of chub had been caught, and thought it would be worth a try at some point but had never really got round to it. Well i had an itch to roam a river and seeing as the River Chelmer is such a shadow of its former self a new venue was needed, and seeing as i didn,t have the time to venture upto Peterborough and fish the River Nene this tiny little water would be my chosen venue.  I arrived on the banks at first light after a short walk and set up a chubber float to fish a tiny little weir pool, of off the main river, which fed a tiny stream which ran through a nearby golf coarse.
